You’ve booked the DJ and photographer, ordered flowers and decoration rentals, created a timeline, and checked a million other things off of your wedding to-do list. Everything is ready for your wedding day, right? RIGHT!? You want your big day to be perfect, so here are a few last-minute wedding tips.

1. Practice your vows.

Whether you’re writing your own vows or not, it’s always a good idea to rehearse reading them out loud. Practicing will ensure the words flow right and sound how you want them to. Just make sure your fiance isn’t listening in while you’re practicing!

2. Take care of your marriage license.

Some couples prefer to have the marriage license taken care of before the day of the wedding and others like to sign it the day of. Marriage license policies vary from state to state and even county to county, so make sure everything is prearranged and planned out so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.

To avoid losing the license after the ceremony and to make sure it’s filed, designate a friend or family member to mail it for you, or keep it in a safe place until you return from your honeymoon and can mail it yourself.

3. Review printed materials.

Are you handing out programs at the ceremony or reception? It’s important to review all of your printed materials in advance. If you don’t have time, delegate this task to a trusted bridesmaid or relative. While you definitely want to make sure you look at your proofs carefully, you should also review the finished copies with enough time to resend to the printer if necessary.

4. Plan meals for the big day.

Most married couples will tell you that finding time to eat on your wedding day is practically impossible; however, this is nothing some thorough planning can’t fix!

There will be a lot to do on the morning of the wedding, so plan a time to eat a good breakfast. If possible, have someone deliver breakfast to wherever you wake up or get ready, and be sure to eat before it’s time for makeup.

Depending on the time of the wedding, you might even have time to have a quick lunch or hearty snack. At the very least, pack some goodies for before and after the ceremony. You can even have something waiting for you for the ride from the ceremony to the reception. Hopefully that will be enough to hold you over until reception dinner!

5. Get packed for the honeymoon.

Depending on when you leave for your honeymoon, you might not have time to pack your suitcase after the wedding. So, get everything packed at least a day before the wedding. This way, you can scoop up a few small things after the wedding and head out the door.

6. Make confirmation phone calls and share your schedule with your vendors.

In the days leading up to your wedding, it’s a good idea to call all of your vendors and confirm the details as an added precaution. In case you haven’t already, you should share your wedding day timeline with your vendors so there isn’t any confusion. As wedding experts, your vendors may have suggestions for your timeline or other tips and tricks.

Here are a few people you should call to check in with:

  • DJ/Band
  • Decor Rental Company
  • Caterer
  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Florist
  • Reception Venue
  • Ceremony Venue
  • Transportation Service

7. Finalize Payments.

If everything isn’t already paid for the week before the wedding, it’s a good idea to finalize these payments and double check the status of payments already made. If pre-paying for a service is an option, it’s usually a good idea so you don’t have to stress about it on wedding day or on your honeymoon.

Your wedding is a day you’ll remember for the rest of your life. So, of course you’re going to want it to be perfect! Here’s one more last-minute wedding tip: in the last two weeks leading up to the wedding, take at least one day to have some personal or girl time. As fun as wedding planning is, it’s important to take a little time away from the stress.

We hope these tips make wedding planning less stressful so you can look forward to and enjoy your big day. Happy wedding planning!
